Holiday Cleaning Tips That Can Save You Money
With the holiday season just around the corner I thought I'd make this first post about how to save money while keeping a clean house. Below I've listed a bunch of ways to clean various parts of your house without breaking the bank and minimal environmental impact.
For example, you can create your own window cleaner by mixing equal parts (1 cup each) distilled vinegar and filtered water. Pour your solution into a clean spray bottle and you've just made a streak free window cleaner that's non toxic and environmentally friendly!
Wanna clean the toilet? Use equal parts (one cup or whatever unit of measurement you prefer) of Distilled White Vinegar and Lemon Juice! These ingredients are both astringents. They are biodegradable and disinfectants!
Wanna keep your Pergo Laminate Floor clean without having to go to the store to buy special chemicals and cleaners? Add equal parts (I generally use a 16 oz. cup) water, white vinegar, 70% rubbing alcohol (careful, alcohol is flammable) and a few drops of your favorite dish detergent (for some extra cleaning power) together in a spray bottle. Give it a good mix and you are good to go!
Is all this use of vinegar getting to your nose?! NO WORRIES!! with the exception of the window cleaner you can use essential oils to mask the smell of vinegar. Just be careful around pets and small children or people with sensitive skin as essential oils can be harmful to them.
Do you have any questions or suggestions about these recipes? Would you like to suggest some recipes of your own? Would you like to share your results with everyone else? Feel free to leave a comment and I'll get back to you A.S.A.P.
